The Congregation: the Outer Grove

The Congregation includes family members, friends and practicing pagans, as well as Candidates for Dedication. The Outer Grove participants will be asked to pay a small monthly membership fee as well as make donations of time whenever needed. These fees and offerings help to pay for incense, candles and other necessary supplies, as well as donations to our food drives and other acts of group karma, such as our sponsorship of shelters.

Congregants may attend our Craft workshops. These include, but are not limited to, soap making and candle making. A donation towards the cost of the materials is mandatory for attending and the cost will be announced on the group web site.

A Congregant and Candidate may also attend our rituals in circle, but may not enter the ritual circle until they have been invited to do so. Ritual dress is mandatory for most of our rituals, which will be announced ahead of time on the group web site. The leaders will open, run the ritual and close ritual with the assistance of the Dedicants and Initiates. Willingness to follow their directions is crucial for these rituals to go safely and smoothly.

Congregants are NOT allowed to wear ritual blades in circle, unless expressly permitted to do so. Congregants are not allowed to touch ritual items unless specifically requested to do so! If unsure as to what is considered a ritual item, please ask for permission to touch any item. (Please refer to the page on ritual etiquette).

Congregants may also attend public rituals at the Aquarian Tabernacle Church. They will be guided in behavior from the ATC as well as this Grove, so please pay attention to their directions. Please keep in mind that people will judge us by our guest's behavior.

If interested in becoming a Dedicant with the goal of becoming an Initiate, please inform the High Priestess. The Church Council will make the decision as to the appropriate readiness of the Candidate. Membership as an initiate is by invitation of the Church Council.

The correct personality and energy mix is essential and may be a deciding factor in acceptance for Dedication. If for any reason the Church Council does not feel the person is ready for this training, they may continue to learn as a Congregant and work with their mentors, until the candidate is ready to review once again.

Once accepted as a Dedicant, we may ask for a written Oath and an apprenticeship of at least a year and a day for this training, or until such time as it is deemed appropriate to confirm upon the Dedicant their first Initiation. Dedicants may be asked to create a vow for their Dedication ritual. It is highly recommended that a Dedicate apprentice himself or herself to at least one member to learn the inner-workings of the Church.
